The positive development of tourism continued during the month of September. INSTAT reports that the net-stays of local residents in accommodation structures have doubled, while the net-stay of foreigners has increased by 81%, while visitors have also increased significantly.
Hotels have had more work, as the room occupancy rate has also increased. The South has attracted more tourists, but the highest increase in overnight stays has been found in the North area (Dibër; Durrës; Kukës; Lezhë; Shkodër).
According to INSTAT data, the total number of visitors has increased by 70.1%, compared to September 2022. The following two indicators follow the same trend:
• the number of resident visitors increased by 60.3%;
• the number of non-resident visitors increased by 76.0%.
The number of total net-stays has increased by 87.8%, compared to September 2022. The following two indicators also follow the same trend:
• the number of overnight stays by the resident has increased by 2 times;
• the number of net-stays by non-residents has increased by 81.3%
Visitors increase by 70 percent
During the month of September 2023, there was an increase in the number of visitors in total by 70.1%, compared to September 2022. The number of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in the North Region recorded the highest increase by 2.2 times.
In the Coastal Areas, this indicator has increased by 93.3%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in "Hotels and similar accommodations" increased by 67.6%.
In the month of September 2023, the highest number of visitors results:
• by regions in the "Southern Region" (36.7%);
• according to areas close to the coast in "Coastal Areas" (63.0%);
• according to the type of accommodation structures in "Hotels and similar accommodation" (91.5%).
Overnight stays in the North are increasing
During the month of September 2023, the total number of overnight stays has increased by 87.8%, compared to the month of September 2022. The number of overnight stays of non-resident visitors who have been accommodated in the North Region has recorded the highest increase by 3 times.
In the Coastal Areas, this indicator has increased by 80.7%, compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of nights of non-resident visitors who were accommodated in "Hotels and similar accommodations" increased by 76.1%.
In the month of September 2023, the highest number of overnight stays was realized:
• by regions in the "Southern Region" (37.5%);
• according to areas close to the coast in "Coastal Areas" (75.8%);
• according to the type of accommodation structures in "Hotels and similar accommodation" (92.4 %).
The rate of room utilization increases significantly
The net utilization rates, of rooms and beds, are two indicators that measure the percentage of utilization of accommodation capacities, rooms and beds available for visitors. During this month, the occupancy rate of "Hotels and similar accommodations" rooms is 32.4%, compared to 23.0% in September 2022. The occupancy rate of "Hotels and similar accommodations" beds is 37 .0%, compared to 22.9% in September 2022.
