
Housing is expected to cost nearly $84 million to the state budget for the coming year, with the rebuilding process, now in its 5th year, taking up the majority.
Referring to the 2024 draft budget, in this sector the expenses will continue to support the reconstruction of houses damaged by the 2019 earthquake, as well as the construction of housing for women and men from social groups in need. The fund allocated for the reconstruction from the state budget is estimated at 7 billion ALL from the 5 billion allocated in 2023, where with the recently approved normative act, 12 billion ALL were added for this process, bringing the total funding to 17 billion Lek.
While the expenses for housing programs are predicted at 1.4 billion ALL in total. Specifically, housing expenses will be focused on the payment of the rent bonus for about 1,128 beneficiary families with a fund of 163.6 million ALL. Rent subsidy to expropriate 300 families benefiting from the Unaza Madhe Tirana project, at a cost of 108 million ALL. Investment schemes for the improvement of living conditions for women and men from social groups, foresee an average of 295 beneficiary families in need, with a cost of 295 million ALL.
For abused women and girls, or one-parent families, support with social housing will continue. The cost for the social housing of 850 women and girls of the category defined by law will be ALL 47.5 million, calculated as a proportion of the two main products of the schemes.
