The Electricity Distribution Operator has been able to bill a small amount of power theft. According to official data from the Energy Regulatory Agency, for the 9th month of 2023, 9,076 mWh of energy were billed as economic damage, while the level of non-technical losses, including thefts, for this period is 323,402 mWh of energy. This means that OSHEE sold only 2.8% of non-technical losses to customers as economic loss.
From 2020, anyone who steals electricity is penalized with a "kilowatt fine" or in other words, the amount of energy consumed illegally is converted into Lek and billed. The regulation gives the right to any network user to complain to the Distribution System Operator or the Energy Regulatory Body, in case he disputes the economic damage bill imposed by DSO, or claims that the latter has not followed and implemented the regulation.
Meanwhile, just a few days ago it was announced that during the inspections in October by the OSSH, part of the OSHEE Group, cases of abuse of electricity were found in some areas of the country.
Meanwhile, from the work report of the Department of Control and Loss Recovery, referring to 1584 controls carried out at the national level, 11 private entities were discovered and prosecuted in the State Police, after they were caught red-handed stealing electricity with the second line or interfering with the meter.
