What Alex Soros' wedding tells us about Trump's US role in Albanian affairs

Alex Soros and Edi Rama

Is this Rama crazy or what? He takes his wife and goes to the wedding of Donald Trump's enemy in the heart of America? What about the McGonigal dossier? What about the bitter congratulations for the May 11 elections? What about Berisha's allies within the lobbying companies? What about the great Chris Lacivita? Where did all these sinkholes go that would take Edi Rama and his 12 years of power with them?

The right-wing populace (but also others in the center or uninterested) has asked at least one of these questions these days as they learned that the Rama couple would attend the wedding of Alex Soros, the successor to the liberal "stepfather" George. Not only that. They would shake hands with the Clinton couple, with Kamala Harris, the head of the Democratic senators Schumer and many other liberals who in today's America of Donald Trump are seen as a kind of political plague.

And yet Rama went there and gave a speech in honor of his friend Alex. He also posed for the newlywed couple's photo album and did not hide anywhere. In a word, he went "as if for a wedding" to America, which just a few hours ago was handcuffing a Democratic candidate for mayor of New York!

There is hardly a greater challenge than that for a small politician in the Balkans. A challenge that erases the entire paragraph you had built in your head before May 11, regarding the dark fate that the US was preparing for Edi Rama.

Alex Soros' wedding indirectly tells us some important things related to the current relationship between our country and Trumpist America. First, it proves to us once again, if we needed it, that Washington's new policy towards us is indifference. That indifference that is applied today as a genuine doctrine of the Trump administration towards countries that were allies and friends until yesterday. Mind your own business, we have our own business - this is the new maxim of US rulers for the rest of the world. And of course for small Albania as well.

Of all the ways to understand the current position of the United States towards Albania, the clearest and most sarcastic one seems to have been a wedding. Not just any wedding, but the wedding of Alex Soros, the son of Donald Trump's enemy!

Now, come on, say that the “real” USA is with the Berisha-Meta couple and that Rama is internationally isolated. In a world where symbolism is worth more than 300 press conferences, this is a slap in the face that speaks for itself. Because if Edi Rama dares to appear with the heads of the Biden administration, the Soros and all that political elite that Trump blames, this shows two things: That Rama is neither in trouble nor seeking forgiveness, and that the USA does not consider Albania more than a few lines of congratulations for the May 11 elections.

If anyone in the Democratic Party still thinks that Trump's return to the White House will produce another American policy towards Albania, then let them look at Alex Soros' wedding photo album to understand the truth hidden among the photos.

Soros' wedding inadvertently showed a reality that the Albanian opposition refuses to accept: the US no longer has time to deal with our country, nor with the "hunt" against its prime minister. Even less time to deal with our opposition. Lacivita took the dollars, the rest is legend and conspiracy theory.
