The bastard sons of the regime that overthrew Veliaj

The way he is treating Erion Veliaj is the clearest indicator of the moral degradation of the party that leads the country today. The unanimous dismissal of the imprisoned mayor, by the councilors he himself selected, grain by grain, as part of the team that would lead Tirana, should serve as an episode worth reflecting on.

Who are these people? What is their profile? How much does it match the stereotype of the new man of the regime that has been installed? What impact does it have on society?

To answer these questions more accurately, it is best to first look at the facts.

Those who voted to get rid of their Lali formally used the same argument, that of absence from work, which they had called invalid when the opposition raised it earlier. No one asked: why not then and now? They blindly obeyed the prime minister's order, although the latter claimed with his own mouth that the wording of the now famous article 62/C is unclear and that changes need to be made in the assembly before proceeding with the mayor's dismissal.

None of them dared to say: “let’s wait until parliament makes the legal arrangements.” None of them stuttered to raise the concern: Can someone elected by 158,000 citizens (whom they, unlike the opposition, still accept), be dismissed without a final decision? In fact, with a shocking lack of dignity, they did not allow their victim of this Tuesday even the minimum right: to present her defense arguments before the verdict.

This type of behavior would be abhorrent even if it were practiced to the detriment of a political opponent, although in this case, many would excuse it with the blind antagonism that has dominated the bipartisan SP-DP battle for years.

But, the position of these bastard sons of the regime becomes more difficult if you consider that they were yesterday's fanatical defenders of Veliaj. Those over 30 municipal councilors have campaigned for him, calling Tirana a success story. They have believed in the existence of 1 million planted trees. They have supported him for the demolition of the Theater, for the murder of Ardit Gjoklaj, for the tear gas on the children of the train station, for the violence against mother Liza, for May 5th.

They publicly sided with him when the 5D scandal broke, they were outraged on television that, just like Rama about ministers, Veliaj knew nothing about directors. They didn't even blush at all when, after SPAK put him in handcuffs, they protested in front of his railings, claiming that 800 thousand euros of dresses, jewelry and panties for his wife were not an abuse that could dim the brilliance of his three terms at the head of Tirana.

Many still remember one of those who brought down Lali this Tuesday, who was willing to fight with journalists to defend him live after his arrest. 

But today a paradox is observed: how were these people transformed?

They still believe in the fantastic Tirana, they still haven't shown that they are convinced of the thefts with the construction permits and the associations of Ajola, so why? Why are they voting for dismissal, without expressing any regret that they were wrong about the assessments they have made over the years, especially when this vote is on the verge of illegality, and even worse, without giving them a normal opportunity to see each other for the last time, eye to eye?

How is it possible that they changed tack, within just ten days, from when Edi Rama spoke, gathered at the organization's headquarters, signed to pave the way for the lynching, and today concluded it?

The truth is that this amalgam of former DP officials, former LSI members who, after Meta bought them, resold their skin to the SP, former enough-doers who can never say enough to their perverse appetites, so this whole Tower of Babel, is the most symbolic representative of the new man who supports this regime.

They are not socialists, and I would even say, not even renaissance people, they are simply reptiles: those creatures with a mouth, eyes and ears, but without a backbone, without character and without the slightest respect for themselves. They are ready, at the first order, to stab them without even accepting to look in the face the one who has forgiven them everything they did not deserve.

In fact, their current protagonism, and not the fall of Veliaj, is the real news of the day. The latter, although he has not yet been punished as much as he deserves, is in this case just the next victim. This is also because when he was in power, he did his best to promote these bastard species that today constitute the basis of the regime that is also eating his head.

But, it is they, the over 30 advisors who dug the hole today, who are the true reflection of what is happening. This is the perfect model of the servile and sycophantic that keeps every autocracy afloat and serves it whenever it needs to eat its own children, both today and tomorrow.
