The same people who, a few months ago, showered him with praise, today threw him away with a cold vote, like an old rag.
Is Veliaj's downfall a political reflection? A moral punishment? A blow to corruption that promises a cleaner morning for society? A triumph of justice?
It should be.
But this is not a note on the fate of the former mayor, but on hypocrisy and human character in times of interest. On political theater without dignity. On the inevitable end of those who think they can build power with people without a backbone and a political hierarchy without a filter of values.
Veliaj is today a mirror of himself: surrounded by people who were chosen not for integrity, but for obedience. And here we are: These people simply turn their heads to the wind. Yesterday they were with him, today they are trampling on him.
In a country where every promotion depends on "one", where politics opens its doors only to the greedy and the sloppy, forget about character in difficult times, inner honesty, personal integrity, strength of personality in the face of the temptation of self-interest.
The consequences of this policy that elects spineless people go beyond Veliaj. Those who signed his removal are a reflection of a system that requires no thought, no character, only blind obedience and servility.
The problem is that this model has severely damaged public life, spreading a depressing message with a profound impact on society: that you don't have to be honest, nor capable of succeeding; that integrity is not rewarded; that if you don't kiss their hands, no doors will open for you; that strong characters have no place in politics; that the latter is done by people who are elected not for their values, but for their weaknesses.
Even when they are promoted as "young", "modern", or "professionals" who came from abroad, in the end they turn out to be human cards without positions, extensions of the system that gave birth to them.
Four or five hands have cooked up a political class where every trace of character has been replaced by pretense, imitation, adaptation to interests; everything to maintain positions, benefits or protection. Without respecting any true principles, without even remaining faithful to what they themselves proclaim!
Look at the "political opponents"! Yesterday they burned him alive in the office, giving him a trial without a trial, today they are sitting on the moral bench and defending his "right to speech"! Another swamp, where there are no more parties, but lines that change color like chameleons.
The dismissal of Veliaj, even by people he himself chose, nurtured and raised – is a brutal lesson, first of all for him. But also for those who are now stirring up trouble and who have built a similar caste of spineless opportunists. Today they cry from "emotion" when he speaks and praise him in public, tomorrow they will line up to throw mud on his political grave.
Temporary admirers, sure gravediggers! Who will abound, until politics is no longer the property of "the one", but a reflection of society./ DITA
