In a country where families save half their lives for their children's wedding day, the sons of politicians marry like princes of a kingdom that doesn't exist. Except in their minds.

Noise, loud marbles, live music, glasses of champagne, photos of dresses. An empty parade that demonstrates neither love nor class – only the desperate thirst to show that they are "someone" over a people who can barely hold their breath.

These people don't want to marry their children off. They "marry" the idea that power makes you rich, rewards you, puts you in castles, gives you villas, cars, ceremonies, applause.

Their performances do not share joy, but impose brilliance. They do not understand that the brighter the lights shine, the deeper the shadow of moral misery they leave behind.

In the end, they don't celebrate love. They celebrate inequality.

Any such behavior in a country like Albania is not a celebration, but a slap in the face to those who still believe that honesty has value.

Where do they live who continue to play this slanderous game, illuminated by the glitter of money? Where does this sick need to show off come from? What message do they give in all this parade of vanity?

The temptation to prove their "difference" from the rest of the people is so deep that it has consumed what little humanity they may once have had.

They climb the castles of the world with a thirst to show how far they have escaped from the "village." But every pose and every bit of extravagance brings them even closer to it.

The village is not the place (I live in the village) it is the mindset. And this mindset is today at the top of power, dressed in expensive clothes, but devoid of any dignity.

There is no other word for them than: Miserable!

Albania would be different if Albanian politicians and their children were the first in the example of humility.

They showed you that it is dignified to live simply, honestly, quietly; to live a normal and modest life. Even if you have more than others! Especially, if you have more than others! This society really, really needs such examples.

But no. Normality has become a drama. These people, drunk on the display of luxury, compete for the depth of their pockets with those like themselves and want to proclaim change without fail from the people they lead.

It doesn't matter if they are in opposition or in power. They are all the same when it comes to appearance, parties, villas, charters or thick silver.

Down to the body's clothing.

Look at parliament on a plenary session day: it looks more like a fashion catwalk than a temple of representation. Designer clothes, custom-made suits, professional makeup, meticulously styled furs.

The country suffers for dignity, these people compete for fashion. Instead of ideas, they plant hair; instead of laws, they trim eyebrows. This is the face of political representation today: cosmetics over a void.

We should know and respect people in politics for their words, for their representation, for their courage in standing up. Not for their weddings, their rags, their brand or the tinted windows of their cars.

This shallowness is more shameful than wealth, for which they have no explanation./ DITA
