A BEAUTIFUL MIND

Today, things move faster than they used to. And not only in a certain point of view. Life is also lived differently, quite differently than before. She is tougher and more under pressure than ever before.

Several major events recently proved this. They got off to a bad start and it is said that the world will be under their grip for a few years to come.

The Great Plague Epidemic. The war in Ukraine. While the power relations do not seem to be the same anymore. They are almost completely disintegrated. The world appears more perverted. The tragedies left behind by the pandemic or the artillery on the battlefields of the war in Ukraine left their mark on the human mind.

Because the nature of tragedy is such that it demands more than it gives. In addition to its stamp as a sign that does not want to be hidden, it also leaves behind works with authors who have run away from it.

Literature marks them better. The Middle Ages produced the Decameron. The Great Depression brought about the Years of Anger. The Spanish Inquisition was the trigger to inspire Don Quixote. Cholera gave Albert Camus his novel The Plague.

Covid-19, maybe we will hear it a little later while the voice of some eyes has not yet arrived so loud.

Therefore, compassion for the grieving remains a human feeling that everyone should have.

But this is best understood by those who need it. Not only those who have pain and sadness from an event where they lost their loved ones. But also those who are ignited by a strong, high and noble love.

I was thinking while watching Netflix about powers and government, about the relationship between citizens and rulers;

Give us power and we give you all the sources of the country, I like to quote someone with this phrase.

I wanted to believe that this is how the world started. It was continuing.

The character was a scientist. The movie is not science fiction at all. It was a reality-fiction.

These "viruses" are released into circulation perhaps to diminish human power, perhaps to make people dependent on a big eye, perhaps to recreate rich classes to further deepen the differentiations between classes...

More density, more pressure.

In the end, man was allowed to triumph. They left him, making him believe that love saved him.

Today but also in his distant past.

Some time ago, the Academy of Sciences made the decision to publish two volumes of the scientific studies of the member of its Assembly, the talented physicist Artan Boriçi, who suddenly passed away two years ago. They summarize his articles published in the scientific periodicals of several European countries and the reports presented at important scientific events abroad and inside the country.

But who was Artan Borici?

Boriçi became a member of the Academy of Sciences in 2020. He defended his doctorate in mathematical sciences in Zurich in 1996. He received the title of professor at the University of Tirana in 2010. He worked for over 20 years as a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences of Nature, serving as vice dean of this faculty and as a member of the scientific council.

He was a supporter of the future of the Academy. Collaborated successfully with several well-known centers of physics and mathematics in Switzerland, Germany and beyond, becoming part of specialized teams for European nuclear research.

Borici was one of the assessors of the annual competition for the Nobel Prize in Physics making original contributions to European science. His studies are reference points in the country and abroad.

He lost his life after a battle with Covid-19 on March 25, 2021. The Academy of Sciences and our country lost a talented scientist, a representative of knowledge at the European level and one of the most prominent researchers of the time. He has left behind a legacy that cannot be extinguished by the time frame remaining inextricably in the Golden Book of our Science.

Artan Borici was a scientist. A man who challenged dogma. Rules and discipline. It defied times and places. He believed in the dream more than reality. So he never saw himself in a well-defined place.

Because his country was the whole universe.

The science he did.

The microbots he was building. That's why everyone often called it A Beautiful Mind.
