Taulant Balla

The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla , has called for dialogue with the students, emphasizing that the government and the Prime Minister have offered the negotiating table to discuss their demands.

Balla stated that students deserve to be heard and that now is the time for a new Pact for the University.

He also brought to attention investments to improve conditions in dormitories, announcing that on Thursday, the Assembly will vote on an agreement with the Federal Republic of Germany and the KfW for more investments in this direction.

During his communication, Balla also addressed the violence during the protests in Tirana, condemning the attacks on the State Police and the damage to institutions and businesses.

"The Socialist Party Parliamentary Group condemns violence," declared Balla, emphasizing that attacking police officers constitutes a criminal offense.

He compared the situation in Albania with protests in other countries in Europe and the world, claiming that in Albania the majority of injured people who have presented to the hospital are police officers.

Balla also focused on the participation of minors in protests, calling it the responsibility of parents to ensure that children are not involved in acts of violence or used for political purposes.

Regarding the situation in education, he emphasized that the good news is the continuation of classes in all schools.

In conclusion, Balla described the attack on the institutions as a serious event, emphasizing that the attacked building had not faced such a situation even in 1997 and 1998.

Taulant Balla's full speech:

Grupi Parlamentar i Partisë Socialiste dënon dhunën.

Today, there are similar protests in many countries in Europe and the world, the only thing that distinguishes the protests in Albania from the protests in France, Belgium, Argentina, if you like, or other countries is that if in France three out of four injured are protesters who have gone to the hospital, four out of five injured in Argentina who have gone to the hospital are protesters, in Albania two out of three of those who have presented to the hospital injured or wounded are police officers, so if in all the countries in the world where there is a protest today, call it whatever you want, ANTIFA, GEN-Z, whatever you want, the difference between Albania and all other countries is that in Albania the largest number of injured or wounded are police officers. In all other countries the largest number, by a very large margin, are protesters…… My soul aches for anyone who is injured, but don't forget that for me the blood of a police officer is the blood of the state. As for minors, they should not be there at all and it is the responsibility of all parents to not let their children be used as cannon fodder by certain political agendas in the country or foreign hands from abroad.

Regarding the education system, the good news today is that classes are being held in all schools.

Regarding violence, I'm telling you Albania and my answer is this: Albania is the only country where there are more injured police officers than protesters.

When all this attempt to harm Albania, when all this attempt to attack institutions is for the first time in 35 years, this building has been attacked. This building was not attacked either in '97 or in '98.
