Ilirjan Celibashi has managed to politicize the process of registering Democratic Paris in the elections. Digging to find a technical "hint" in the way Lulzim Basha resigned, he actually managed to make a political trial of the official PD, after publicly expressing his despair that the seal did not belong to Sali Berisha.
In fact, his political statement against the court's decision on the PD seal would be enough for him to be challenged as a commissioner. But this was not enough.
Now all his energies are focused on how to leave the official PD out of the elections. Using an authorization that Basha authorizes Alibeaj to perform the functions of the party chairman after his resignation, he considers this as Lulzim Basha's non-resignation and insists that Basha's name be on the ballot. All this just for Berisha to say to the "pultorists": You saw him, he didn't run away, so I didn't run away.
Lulzim Basha will not have his name as chairman on the ballot because he is not really chairman. "De facto" Lulzim Basha has resigned. He has left the political life of the party and the party is led by Enkelejd Alibeaj.
There are many practices of public life that prove that Alibeaj represents the official DP with full powers. It has been accepted by Albanian and foreign institutions as such. He is recognized by the president, the government, and Berisha himself as a rival. Foreign embassies contact him for party chairman, he is at the head of the DP parliamentary group and represents it in every public activity, in the center and districts.
The resignation process is political and public. And this process has happened and is verifiable.
Alibeaj has been exercising the office of DP chairman for a year without obstacles and without controversy.
Celibashi's political involvement in a technical link of Basha's resignation seems to be an entirely political investment of his, and this is worrying for the seriousness of the elections.
I know that formally one can get hold of the idea that the Court has reinstated Lulzim Basha as president, and it can mercilessly use the procedures and deadlines to leave the official DP unregistered in the elections, but we simply have to be clear that it is not doing the job of the commissioner, but that of a desperate "talker" because the court did not give them the stamp. If he had given it to them, he would have spared us all this procedural scrupulosity.
Now he will simply prove to everyone what Berisha has warned, that "Rama will exclude DP from the elections". With the hands of Berisha's man.
