In Albania, Faik Bey used to say, there are three types of workers.
The experts; 2. People-Machines; 3. The Levantines. The former are the ones who take it upon themselves to talk about everything, pretending to know it all. They publish ignorance and have no scruples, fear or shame, because ignorance and myopia drown them, while they boast and hold themselves to be great.
The second category is the robotized people as a result of excessive bureaucratization, becoming slaves to mechanical ideas and transforming the being into a machine without feelings, without thought and without reasoning. These are very harmful, because they hinder the normal activity of the administration and affairs of a state.
For the Levantines, I am saving the words of Beu te Konice. I remembered these words now that I am writing about the case of Ardian Koci
I don't know Ardian Koçi. I have never met him. What I will write below are opinions collected from people I appreciate for their contribution to the preservation of Albanian nature. In fact, to learn a little more, I also asked some foreign friends who spoke to me carefully about his work. From the messages of my friends, I learned that he is a devoted employee of our state, a man who loves nature, birds, animals (very many in this area of ours).
Mr. Koci was fired for an interview on the Voice of America. (In fact, according to the official statement of AKZM, several interviews). When I asked who had made this decision, many who did not even know the name of the Director of this Institution. Meanwhile, there were very positive comments about Mr. Koci, a little special for a civil servant. I don't want to add what they told me because I don't have it from my personal experience, but the fact is that all the environmental specialists in the block call this discharge a "killing" of the eco system of the Protected Area that Mr. Koci had been invested for 10 years back from Italy. The superior's punishment from what I read reminded me of a former superior of mine, one of the most mediocre ladies of our administration, who, since the media did not pay any attention to her, was endlessly jealous of those who appeared in the media.
The debate opened by the dismissal of a pious administrator evaluated by many specialists in the face of institutional mediocrity is a big problem. A mediocrity that is driving people away from such a specific field who devote themselves more passionately to an issue that few people understand in this small area of ours.
When I was reading the reason of AKZM for this action, I must say that for the first time I saw a statement from this institution, which was so worried about why a Director had to speak a few lines in an international media about the work he does in nature protection.
I have never read any explanation from AKZM as to why the Ramsar area of Butrint, e.g. is being reduced. Why the protected area of the Butrinti Park is being damaged by constructions on the coast line, why in the only Protected Marine Park fish is hunted without criteria, why in other protected places hunting continues without the Director/Director of this being concerned at all Institution. I have not read all this and unfortunately for the first time I read an absurd decision of this Institution, a decision that will make known at least the name of the Director/Director who removed Ardian Koçi for absurd reasons, a man who everyone appreciates him for his work and passion. This action is worthy of the pen of the great Faik who wrote in "Albania as I saw it".
