He is one of the most honest cops I know. For this reason, this person has gained something important from me, I BELIEVE. In one of the days he confessed to me:

'The first days in the police were a bureaucracy - he remembers about his career in the State Police. They kept me waiting with the people and I took note of their complaints about the most banal things, noises with the neighbors, small quarrels and everything that the citizens hope is a matter that the police solves.

On one of these days, the speaker was an elderly woman. He spoke for almost an hour. I typed on the computer and to understand clearly, I asked her how many times she lost track of what she was complaining about. He had been stolen from the bus and he was talking in detail about the station where he stayed, the journey through the city, the seat where he was sitting and how he had kept the bag for safekeeping. He told me about the pension money and the phone that his daughter had given him as a gift, but that the thief had stolen without being noticed.

In a city like Tirana, a theft on the street is a small event for which paperwork becomes piles at the police station.

Even that denunciation was a routine like for others and I couldn't wait to go out on the field. So in that case, in front of that elderly woman, I was just a secretary where one speaks and the other writes. When I finished, she had to sign it, I handed her the denunciation for her to read.

A few minutes of silence followed until the woman asked me for a pen. But to my surprise he didn't sign, he started circling words, putting question marks, writing semicolons across the lines.

Then, unlike the calmness she had until that moment, she got up in revolt, addressing me with a remark. "The sentences are too long, you made a mess with the "period", that's where you should put the period. You killed "E", the comma does not exist. He started lecturing me and those were my most difficult moments. She had been talking calmly for almost an hour about the theft and here she was in front of me worried about the Albanian language. She forgot the trouble she had, she didn't even correct me on any of the details of the event. I saw that at that moment that woman did not even realize later what had happened to her.

But she was alarmed about the sentences

I had in front of me a woman who had loved her job and continued to love it even though she was retired. She had been an Albanian language teacher and I felt worse than a thief. I had lost the full stop in the sentences. I had written as if not worse, making a mess with the punctuation marks. This was the moment that I received a lesson about the mission we have in life and that lady gave me.

"We must love everything we do."
