Election of the new head of SPAK, the ambassador of the EU delegation meets the chairwoman of the KLP!

The European Union Ambassador to Albania, Silvio Gonzato, met today with the President of the High Prosecutorial Council, Mirela Bogdani , in the context of the election of the new head of SPAK.

Through an official announcement on Facebook, the EU Delegation to Albania has stated that it will closely follow this process, reaffirming its support for the independence and accountability of the Albanian judicial system.

"A credible and independent justice system remains essential to strengthen citizens' trust and advance Albania's path towards the European Union,"  says the statement published by the EU Delegation to Albania.

The EU Delegation also confirmed that it will continue to assist the KLP and the Albanian justice institutions with the best expertise, to help the country meet EU standards in the framework of the integration process.

“We will continue to support the entire judicial system in strengthening independence, accountability and efficiency at all levels.”

A credible and independent justice system remains essential to strengthen citizens' trust and advance Albania's path towards the European Union.

EU Ambassador Gonzato met with Ms. Mirela Bogdani, President of the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP), to discuss the future work and key milestones ahead, including the selection and appointment of the new Head of SPAK.

The EU Delegation will closely follow this process, while continuing to support the entire judicial system in strengthening its independence, accountability and efficiency at all levels.

The KLP has an essential role in ensuring transparent and merit-based procedures for promotions, evaluations and professional standards within the prosecution system.

We will continue to assist the KLP with our best expertise to help Albania meet EU standards.
