New official details have come to light about the murder of 20-year-old Portuguese tourist Luis Miguel Varela Mendes in Ksamil, a serious incident that occurred in the early hours of the morning of August 18 at the "Principote" bar and then on "Paradise" beach.

According to data released by the Police, the incident began at around 05:15, following a conflict between several people on the premises of "Principote". The clash then moved to the beach area, where the situation escalated.

According to the investigation, 29-year-old Sokrat Lipan, alias Sokrat Vata, is suspected of stabbing the Portuguese tourist several times in the body. At the same time, David Heurtevent, who is wanted, is suspected of punching the 20-year-old.

Both are charged with "Intentional Murder", committed in collaboration, while investigations continue to fully uncover the role of each person in the conflict.

Waiters allegedly hit tourist before stabbing him

According to the Police, four waiters from the "Principote" bar were also involved in the conflict: Serxhi Selimi, Ervis Bunci, Murat Zhabina and Ildi Cekani.

They allegedly punched the Portuguese tourist before Sokrat Vata stabbed him. After the incident, the four waiters fled the scene.

How was the main suspect caught?

After the murder, Sokrat Vata was caught in Levan, Fier, while hiding in the trunk of a vehicle. In the vehicle were Turkish citizens Nuh Mahmutoglu, 38, and Ezgi Perlak, 31.

According to the investigation, the two Turkish citizens knew Vata and are suspected of helping him flee to Tirana. They have been arrested and face charges of "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime."

At the time of the conflict, there were four people working in security at "Principote": Miosid Matushaj, Luciano Seferi, Romeo Shehu and Kristi Koshi.

According to the Police, they did not intervene to prevent the conflict from escalating and did not notify the authorities after the incident.

Miosid Matushaj faces charges of "Failure to report a crime" and "Failure to take measures to end the state of lawlessness", while Luciano Seferi, Romeo Shehu and Kristi Koshi have been charged with the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime".

The owner of the bar, Bekim Bulica, was also present at the time of the incident. According to the police, he left after the incident without notifying the authorities.

Bulica has been declared wanted and the criminal offense of "Failure to report a crime" has been referred to him.

In total, 11 people have been arrested in connection with the incident, while two others, David Heurtevent and Bekim Bulica, have been declared wanted.

The investigative materials have been referred to the Saranda Prosecutor's Office, while investigations continue for the full documentation of the event and the responsibilities of each person involved.
