Arson suspect caught red-handed in Mirdita

A person has been arrested in flagrante delicto by the State Police in Mirdita, suspected of intentionally causing several fires in the village of Gziq, Rrëshen.

The news was announced by the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, who stated that the suspect, a resident of this village, is suspected of having started three fires, burning a forest area of ??about 400 square meters.

According to Lamallari, the fire was brought under control by the Mirdita police services, who had been on the ground for three days monitoring the situation. The arrested person is also suspected of being the author of several other cases of arson in the territory of the Mirdita Municipality.

Lamallari described deliberate arson as a crime that should receive the punishment it deserves and called on the Prosecution to continue the investigation until the case is fully clarified.

"My appeal to the Prosecution is direct: this matter must go to the end. Full investigation, full evidence and criminal liability for the perpetrator, if proven guilty," Lamallari wrote.
