Body left lifeless on the ground for 3 hours - Portuguese tourist was killed inside the "Principota" premises and then taken outside

A serious incident has shaken the tourist town of Ksamil this morning, where a Portuguese tourist, about 20 years old, lost his life after a conflict on the premises of the "Principotes" resort.

The victim has been identified as Luis Miguel Varela Mendes, who had come to Ksamil together with a group of Portuguese tourists.

According to new investigation data, the incident is suspected to have occurred at around 02:30, inside the premises of the bar called "La Guerra", part of the Principotes resort. After the conflict, the 20-year-old was taken out of the beach bar premises, where he was left lifeless in the beach area.

One of the most shocking details of the incident is the fact that the tourist's body was allegedly left outside for almost three hours, until it was discovered and the police arrived at the scene.

Sources indicate that Luis Miguel Varela Mendes had received several blows with a cutting instrument to the back and chest, wounds that caused his death. Initially, it was suspected that the blow had occurred near the gate of the bar, but new investigation data place the collision and murder inside the premises of "Principota".

The suspect in the murder has been identified as 29-year-old Sokrat Vata, a resident of Has, who worked as a bodyguard at the bar. It is suspected that the conflict started for weak motives, while one of the leads being investigated is related to a girl.

Sokrat Vata turns out to have a criminal past in England, where he has been convicted of offenses related to possession of cocaine, weapons, and driving under the influence of drugs.

Following the investigation, the Saranda police have escorted 42 people, who are being questioned to uncover the full dynamics of the incident and to determine the responsibility of each of the people who were in the bar.

Sources indicate that more arrests are expected. Two Turkish citizens are also under investigation, who are suspected of having helped the suspected perpetrator flee the scene.

As part of the investigation, Moisid Matushaj, 24 years old, resident of Gjirokastra, with the duty of Assistant Specialist of Criminal Investigation at the Gjirokastra Local Directorate of Border and Migration, was also detained.

Matushaj is suspected of having helped Sokrat Vata after the murder. According to the investigation, he worked as a bodyguard for the company "Elite Security" together with Vata on the premises of "Principota" and is suspected of having helped him leave the scene.

Police are also investigating the role of the Turkish couple who drove the vehicle where the perpetrator is suspected of hiding after the murder. According to the investigation, there are suspicions that Sokrat Vata also worked as the Turkish citizen's bodyguard.

Meanwhile, Bekim Bulica, 36, has also been declared wanted. Preliminary investigations show that Bulica was at the scene of the incident and then left in the direction of Tirana, suspected of evading the investigation.

But in this event, the position of the owner of the "Principotes" bar is further emphasized, who is currently on the run and is another person being sought as part of the investigation.

Investigators are trying to reconstruct minute by minute what happened inside the bar, the moment of the conflict, the murder of the tourist, the removal of the body outside, and the fact that he was left for hours in the beach area.

Meanwhile, the controls for the arrest of the wanted persons and the questioning of the escorted persons continue. The prosecution is investigating the responsibility of each of them and it is expected that in the coming hours there will be new developments regarding this serious event. (TCH)
