Italian justice has sentenced to life imprisonment the Albanian mason Gëzim Alla, who committed a macabre crime in April 2021. He killed his wife Dorina Alla by hitting her several times with a hammer.

The sentence was handed down by the Court of Assizes in Vicenza, presided over by Antonella Toniolo, this morning.

According to Italian media, the horrific crime took place in the couple's apartment in Pove del Grappa, while the couple's young children were hiding in fear under the bed in their room.

The author, when he confessed the incident, said that he killed the 38-year-old after receiving some offensive phrases from his wife, who, according to him, had also spat in her face. After the serious incident, Alla called the police and admitted the crime by surrendering.

The Albanian couple had two children aged 13 and 9, who saw the macabre event and were horrified. Since 2017, the Albanian family had moved to Pove Del Grappa municipality, while the perpetrator of the murder worked as a bricklayer.

The minor children were taken into care by some family members living in Italy.

Therefore, the court also sentenced Alla with pecuniary and non-material damages, with an immediate temporary sum of 100,000 euros for each child, as well as ordered the confiscation of parental responsibility.
