" Bar Lulishtja ", the historical building in the city of Saranda, was burnt this Friday morning by flames.
The fire broke out around 10:00 in the morning, where the wooden construction of the roof caused the flames to spread rapidly, endangering the subjects around.
A building with businesses and a bar were partially affected by the fire.
Known as "Bar Lulishtja" during the communist period and until today, the building owned by the municipality of Saranda, served in the years 1920-1930 as the Italian Consular Agency.
The building had the status of consular and diplomatic relations with Italy with jurisdiction over the South of Albania.
It was located in Saranda because of the port and trade relations of the city, but also of the entire southern area.
The Consulate of Saranda depended on the Italian Legation of Durrës, which was closed with the beginning of World War II.
The Saranda police are investigating the incident, while the first suspicions are of a deliberate arson.
