The 'Bar Lulishte Butrinti' building in the center of the city of Saranda, a historical building, which was once the Italian consulate, was engulfed in flames this morning.
It was 10:00 a.m. and Saranda didn't even have strong sun today.
The researcher Auron Tare, who happened to be there, witnessed the destruction of this historical 'jewel' and saw the whole scene with regret.
"I saw how the fire fell. The reaction was overwhelming. The fire first broke out in an abandoned building. If it had intervened in time, the historical building of the former Italian consulate would have been saved. I shot as a witness to the final decline of the monarchical cultural heritage in Saranda. I dont have. This is the end of a historical period that must be said to have been successfully destroyed by the Albanians themselves. I was there and saw it with great pain," says Auron Tare for Report TV.
He says with conviction that we are dealing with a deliberate fire
"It was done deliberately to demolish the building built later. It is the scene of the murder of a historical monument that had no protection status either by the municipality or the government," he says.
