A 66-year-old man, an employee of a construction firm in Berat, is suspected of having fallen from the third floor of a building under construction in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood.

As a result of the injuries he sustained after the fall, the 66-year-old died in hospital while receiving first aid.

Through a statement, the Police announced that the investigation team is at the scene and is working to clarify the circumstances of the case.

The Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania has also reacted to this event, denouncing "the fact that construction sites in Tirana and the coast have become like banks for foreign architects who receive millions of euros and like funeral agencies for construction workers who are losing their lives due to job insecurity."

"Today, June 30, 2025, at a construction site in the "Kushtrimi" neighborhood in Berat, another workplace accident occurred, in which the victim was citizen Ramadan Hatija, 66 years old.

The cause of this serious accident is suspected to be the lack of technical safety conditions at work.

KSSH expresses its condolences to the Hatija family and requests the Prosecutor's Office to investigate the serious incident and hold accountable if technical safety rules at work were violated.

"KSSH appeals that the State Labor Inspectorate urgently increase controls on construction sites that are taking people's lives ," declares the Confederation of Trade Unions of Albania.
