The murder of Erjon Pelivani by his brother-in-law, Fatmir Talellari, has shocked public opinion in Greece and Albania. The cause became the reason for this crime. Erjon Pelivani, 33 years old, had sexually abused and raped Talellari's daughter, who he had with his first wife, for several years. In addition, he blackmailed her with an intimate video that he would expose her to on the Internet, thus extorting money from her.
The reason for the discovery of the whole event was the payment of the 18-year-old's rent, which had remained unpaid.
Fatmir Talellari himself showed the full dynamics of the event in court. He confessed how he got to know the story and the messages he saw on the girl's cell phone.
"On January 7, I was informed by the owner of the girl's house in Ioannina that the apartment rent had not been paid. This fact worried me after I had given the money to the girl. I contacted her on her cell phone, but I didn't like her explanation. Late in the evening I went to Volos, to the other girl's house to meet her and find out what was going on. After I asked her hard, because she was scared, hesitant and didn't want to talk, she finally revealed to me that the money was taken from a person who has sexually harassed and raped her in the past and is now threatening her that if she doesn't give it money, he will show me, but also other people via the Internet, pictures of him and my daughter naked. She showed me several messages that proved this, but did not reveal the identity of this person first. Because of the surprise I had feelings of disappointment and then anger took over, but I tried to manage the situation. I immediately went to the girl and told her that I will always love her and let her know that I will always be by her side. I urged him to immediately consult a psychologist and a lawyer to advise us on the necessary psychological support and the necessary legal actions against the author ", he says.
The moment when he learned that the rapist was the brother of the second wife was dramatic. Talellari explains that he felt shocked when he learned that he was betrayed by a trusted person who had free access to his apartment.
"She told me that this person is my partner's brother, who as a relative had free access to my house, whom I had trusted in the past and supported and helped financially. This discovery was the final blow to my currently fragile state of mind. Added to my previous condition, I felt betrayed by a trusted relative. The ground collapsed, my eyes went dark, I obviously lost my logic, I could no longer manage this situation. After staying until the afternoon with my children, during which time the girl's teacher who prepared her for university visited us, I could no longer stay at home and decided to return to Argalasti", he explained.
He then reveals that he was obsessed with demanding an explanation from his brother-in-law.
"I got the idea to meet my brother-in-law and ask him for an explanation. But because my brother-in-law had a violent past (breaking things in his parents' house) and because he was bigger and stronger like me, I was afraid that during the meeting after I revealed what I had taught him, my life could to be in danger. For this reason I took my hunting pair, which I have with a permit, and set off for Volos. Before I got to Volos, I thought that if I called my brother-in-law myself he would be suspicious and not meet me since we no longer had special contact. So I asked my partner to call my brother and ask him to help me with the claim that I had a flat tire," he says.
At the end he tells the details of how the murder happened. According to Talellari, Pelivani laughed ironically when he was asked to explain this event. Here, Talellari claims that the 33-year-old ran towards him and attacked him. The 50-year-old says that the trigger was pulled after a fight and he did not intend to kill him.
"My brother-in-law came towards me, parked the car on the opposite side of the road, passed him and moved towards me. Before he approached me, I shouted loudly "why did you rape and destroy my daughter?". He, despite the fact that he clearly saw that I had a gun in my hand, not only gave no explanation, but smiled ironically and ran, changing direction every now and then, trying to attack me and take my gun. To defend myself I hit him with the barrel of the gun on the head and chest and he fell down. Again instead of retreating he got up and attacked me again. Then we had a fight. He tried to wrestle the gun away from me again and then it seems that during the struggle the trigger was pulled, the gun went off and my brother-in-law was fatally shot. Based on the above, the death of the brother-in-law came as a result of being hit with a weapon during our fight, without having the intention to kill him on my part", he stated.
Talellari says that the incident happened while he was in a difficult psychological state after the girl's confessions and the photos he saw on her cell phone.
We recall that the 50-year-old Talellari was placed under house arrest after this event. The Greek media, Zougla, says that on Friday this issue will also be examined by the Judicial Council, which will decide on the fate of the Albanian.
Talellari is defended by Alexis Kougias, who is one of the best-known lawyers in Greece.
