38-year-old Albanian Artur Marku has pleaded guilty after illegally entering the United Kingdom on November 6 last year, for the seventh time.
He appeared at Antrim Magistrates' Court via teleconference from his prison cell.
The court heard that the Albanian was caught at Belfast International Airport "attempting to enter the departure gate", according to the prosecutor. He said the defendant had previously been released on a UK deportation order in 2005 and had breached it on six previous occasions.
Mark received a seven-year prison sentence in the UK in 2009 for grievous bodily harm with intent and in 2022, in Wales, he was jailed for six months for a similar offence.
A defense lawyer told Antrim Crown Court on Tuesday that the defendant is married to a woman from Antrim but lives and works in the Republic of Ireland.
Jailing the defendant for five months, the district judge told Mark: "This is the seventh time you have breached this deportation order and you have not only breached the order but committed criminal offenses while in the UK."
