An Irish court has sentenced an Albanian citizen, caught with a significant amount of cocaine, to two years in prison.
Xhevair Ibraj was caught in 2020 by the Irish police while transporting a bag of cocaine. He was stopped while driving when the police asked him to hand over the bags he had with him.
At first he hesitated, handing them a bag of potatoes, then a supermarket bag, and finally handed over the bag containing €139,000 worth of cocaine.
The Albanian has been living and working as a car mechanic in Ireland for 14 years, where he has a wife and two children.
The judge said that he is sentencing the 42-year-old Albanian to 2 years in prison for knowingly or unknowingly being involved in a serious crime.
