The Mayor of Rrogozhina, Edison Memolla, surrendered to the police this Monday evening after being found guilty of active corruption in the elections.
Memolla was sentenced today to one year in prison, by decision of the Special Court of Appeal, for the criminal offense of "Active Corruption in Elections" committed in collaboration.
In this way, the Appeal of the GJKKO has upheld the decision of the First Instance. In addition to one year of imprisonment, Memolla is prohibited from exercising public functions for 5 years.
Two of the mayor's associates, Blerim Xhamani and Isuf Tosku, were also found guilty. They were sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison, respectively, with Tosku's sentence suspended and placed on probation.
