The citizens' protest against the construction of the tourist resort in Zvërnec has been attracting the attention of prestigious international media for days. Today, the Reuters news agency broadcast live the protest on Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard where thousands of people gathered to express their opposition to the project.
"Albanians are protesting against a planned luxury resort, backed by a company linked to Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of US President Donald Trump. The protests are taking place against the project to build the resort in an ecologically sensitive area of ??the Adriatic coast, due to concerns about its impact on the environment," Reuters wrote alongside the live video on Facebook.
This broadcast has also brought a reaction from the leader of the Socialist parliamentary group, Taulant Balla. Reposting the Reuters live video, he questions the international interest in the protest, claiming that the participation was very low.
"How could a small country like ours become global news? How could a local protest, which today has less than two thousand participants, be an international spectacle that makes Reuters broadcast it live? These people with the "professional" commitment not to move the plan left or right, because that's where the presence of the participants ends. Then look at the title that is placed, to understand that they have no sympathy for Zvërnec, nor for Albania, for these "actors" participating in this meaningless theater, no, no. They have other problems."
