The researcher recounts the conversation with Kastriot Myftaraj two hours before the suicide

Researcher Ndriçim Kulla has spoken about the suicide of analyst and journalist Kastriot Myftaraj. Kulla has stated that the deceased in the last phone calls seemed to him like a man who took care of his health and not someone who could choose to leave his life.

In an interview for News24, Kulla appealed that the state should do everything possible to solve the case, because according to him, Myftaraj was not a weak man, but a fighter who loved life.

"I want to make a resume of how I know Myftaraj. I am a publisher while he is a book author. I was initially reluctant to accept him because of the problematic profile he had created. I was prejudiced, but first I published Enver Hoxha's biography.

At first I had correct and cold relations, then I was attracted to his publicism. It was a new thing, I was shocked by his erudition, I started to get to know him closely and it suggested to me the memory, culture and information that this man had. In historical subjects he was brilliant. I started to reevaluate it.

Ours was a 20 year relationship.

He had recently discovered that he had an illness. Dr. Petrela asks me to act because he was diagnosed with an incurable disease.

I contacted Dr. Mentor, he was very worried about him and asked me how we will act because he does not know. I suggested something to him that the clinical disease should also be looked at. He was 5 years old, if he had an aggressive cancer as the doctors said, the grass would have sprouted. I think there is something else, I told him.

During this time he was released from the hospital. emotions guided him not reason when he left the hospital. Unfortunately, thyroid biopsy tests are not even performed in our hospitals.

The problem of his tumor which may not be dangerous according to the information I have. That's where his struggles started.

Not even 15 days ago, he found out that he had a tumor. I explained that it may not be aggressive and after the operation you can live another 100 years.

He doubted and had a mistrust. There was also a trial with the Prime Minister Mr. Edi Rama, this is public", said Mr. Kulla.

In relation to you, was there any hope that he would succeed or had the disease overcome him psychologically?

Kulla: No, he couldn't, he was strong. That surprises me he was a warrior. We are all witnesses of the wars he waged. he looked like a Don Quixote.

In my judgment he was prejudiced against society, his opinions were premature. He was a Western-oriented man, the other attitudes were a little extreme.

I still have pressures that as a publisher I accepted it. I did very well to accept him because I influenced the moderation of his thoughts.

I can't say it was paranoia but there was a rational reasoning that I am threatened, they will poison me. I don't know how he made that plan because he may have had the last or penultimate conversation with me yesterday at 9:47. I was in Saranda and I was coming back.

For 2-3 days he was taking my pulse and blood pressure. He told me how to subdue the high voltage and I gave him my instructions.

He picked me up last time and I asked him how you are. He told me I was calm. A man who takes care of the tension 2 hours before he commits suicide shows that he loves and cares for life.

It has not been disconnected. It seems strange to me.

He called me that he has seen the history of my illness with tension. he had not expressed any fear to me.

I told him to go to another hospital, he was afraid that he would be poisoned and killed. He manifested this in his conversations with me.

I'm not an expert, I don't even say if he was killed or pressured to commit suicide, but his character was spartan, he didn't commit suicide. Science can explain it better. It was feared that there had been public pressure.

I wasn't the one to talk like that. He had not committed any crime.

There were public debates with public figures. He feared institutions, not persons. He did not trust the state.

He told me that he was preparing to go to Switzerland on the 10th to be treated and examined because, according to him, there was no possibility to do a thyroid biopsy that could cause the problem. This is what he wanted to do.

I didn't see any sign even from the voice because to think of planning death, one prepares oneself also spiritually, one has to live darkness and crime.

I saw no sign. I monitored him because I was very sorry knowing his family circumstances that he lives with a 90-year-old mother.

He was an emotional man. We had plans for publications. He made volumes 3 and 4 of Enver Hoxha. We had an idea that he had suggested to me, to get Noli's memories.

There were plans for the future. The plans were discussed even when he left the hospital, we sat in a cafe, I didn't want to open the conversation but he opened it himself. He told me it should be done because it is beautiful.

I cannot help but respect the culture that this man has created in Albania, he is an asset that has broken many taboos. He also caused damage, insulted people. He was a controversial character.

When he said, for example, Medina and Mecca should be bombed, this is heresy and I cannot accept it.

The first reaction when I found out about the suicide, I believe it when I consider such a depressing moment. I don't believe much in the state and the police, I think that in order to clean itself up, the state should research and create a group of experts.

I'm sorry, I feel very sorry for the family who lost a man who had a lot of time to live that he went away at a time when he was prepared to be a contributor to society.
