The Tirana court sentenced a 53-year-old man to 3 months in prison, after he threatened the former head of the Central Election Commission, Klement Zguri, via Facebook.

"I will kill my family," was the message that arrived at Klement Zguri's Facebook social network address on July 4, 2019, when he was acting as the chairman of the central election commission.

According to Euronews Albania, Zguri has filed a report with the Tirana police, which launched an investigation into threats due to duty and increased security measures against him.

The threat had arrived at the address of the chairman of the CEC - a few minutes after the announcement of the results of the two municipalities of the country, for the local elections of June 30, 2019.

The investigation revealed that the threat had come from a 53-year-old man from Shkodra, who had been abroad in Greece since 2010.

He was sentenced a few months ago in absentia by the Tirana court to 3 months in prison, for "Threats due to duty".

The former head of the CEC, Klement Zguri, also appeared in the process, who expressed that he felt bad that things went this way and that if he had been asked earlier, he would have given up his complaint.
