SPAK is tracking the payment "system" of the Vlora criminal group

The Vlora-based criminal group, targeted by the Special Prosecution Office, which says it uncovered two murders and several attempts at international drug trafficking, used the Hawala system to move money generated from criminal activity.

SPAK is tracking this system, based on data that emerged from the disclosure of communications on the encrypted Sky Ecc application.

This financial mechanism, considered sophisticated by investigators, was used to make payments and finance the purchase of narcotics in Latin America.

Through it, the group made quick payments for criminal activity, where the requested amount was paid in one country and withdrawn in Albania, or vice versa.

On the other hand, SPAK is investigating the assets of 8 people who it has taken under investigation and issued a "prison arrest" security measure, three of which have been executed.

From these investigations, the Special Prosecution Office says it has uncovered the murder of Gentian Qarri and Bledar Birçaj, which occurred in Vlora in 2021, and their involvement in 4 attempted trafficking of over 1 ton of cocaine and nearly 700 kg of cannabis.
