A serious incident has been reported in Italy, where a 47-year-old Albanian woman has lost her life as a result of uterine cancer, following a misdiagnosis. The woman had undergone three Pap tests at a medical laboratory between 2016 and 2019, and all of them had resulted negative, ruling out the presence of infections or serious health problems.

However, a few years later it was discovered that the tests had been incorrect. Meanwhile, the disease had continued to progress silently until it was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma of the uterus.

According to Italian media, the 47-year-old underwent long cycles of chemotherapy, both traditional and experimental treatments, but her condition gradually worsened.

She passed away in November 2023. To avoid a lawsuit, the laboratory that had reported the tests chose to reach an economic agreement with the victim's family, compensating them with 300 thousand euros.
