Director and screenwriter Leka Bungo passes away at the age of 81

Renowned Albanian director, actor and screenwriter Leka Bungo passed away today at the age of 81. The director will be taken to his final resting place this Wednesday (June 11), at 4:00 PM, and will be laid to rest in the Sharra cemetery.

The family announced the sad news on social media. One of his daughters, Alba, shared a photo of herself with her father, saying that he fought the most serious illness of the century.

Leka Bungo was born on February 28, 1944 in Vlora and was one of the most prominent names in Albanian art, with important contributions to theater, film and television. He graduated from the "Aleksandër Moisiu" High School for Actors and later a one-year course in directing at the Higher Institute of Arts.
