Appeal hearing for Vangjush Dako postponed, one of the defendants missing
Vangjush Dako

The hearing begins in the Special Appeal in the case of the former mayor of Durrës Vangjush Dako, who has been under "house arrest" since February 2024, when he was released from prison by decision of Judge Flojera Davidhi after the expiration of his pre-trial detention period.

The absence of citizen Adrian Bulku and his legal counsel is the reason for the non-conduct of the hearing.

Prosecutor Sotir Kllapi asked the judge to postpone the session, given that Adrian Bulku was one of the people who appealed the first instance decision to the Court of Appeal.

For this reason, the panel of judges, consisting of Engert Pëllumbi as presiding judge, and members Ilirjana Olldashi and Miliana Mucca, postponed the hearing to July 1 at 10:30.

The court appointed Artan Simoni as the primary attorney, in the absence of Adrian Bulku's legal counsel.

Dako was sentenced by the first instance to 2 years and 8 months in prison for "abuse of office" committed on two occasions.

While Adrian Bulku, Fatmir Ejupi and Fiqiri Farruku were sentenced to 2 years in prison, a sentence that was suspended and placed on probation for 4 years.
