The Special Court of Appeals has sentenced the former prosecutor of Saranda, Sali Hasa, to 2 years and 4 months in prison.

In this way, the Special Appeal has changed the decision of the First Instance.

The former prosecutor was sentenced by the GJKKO to 2 years in prison for corruption in May 2022. The sentence was commuted to 4 years of probation, leading to the release of Hasa, who was also banned from public office for 5 years.

After today's decision, Hasa must serve the remainder of his sentence in prison.

He can appeal against this decision to the Supreme Court within 45 days.

The former prosecutor is suspected of accepting a bribe from Elsona Papa, the sister of citizen Emiljano Mirani, a person the prosecutor had under investigation, and subsequently dismissed the case.

He is accused of taking a sum of money from citizen Elsiona Papa, to dismiss the case against her brother Emiljan Mirjan, after he was accused and investigated for assault. Referring to the prosecution's file, Papa was photographed in the prosecutor's office together with Edison Korkut, who was injured by her brother.

According to the investigation, she influenced Sali Hasa to stop the investigation into her brother, who was accused of intentional injury and possession of cold weapons.

During the search of the former prosecutor's apartment, 11 million old Lekë and 2 thousand Euros were seized. These individuals were discovered based on another criminal proceeding that the special prosecution had for a criminal group suspected of dealing in narcotics trafficking.
