A serious incident occurred on Thursday evening in the mountainous area of Gjinari in Elbasan, where a 54-year-old man lost his life after allegedly accidentally falling into the canyon near Mount Vasha.

According to the official Police announcement, the victim is citizen PT, a resident of the village of Pashtresh, who had left his apartment since the early hours of Thursday morning.

It is suspected that he accidentally fell while walking on the difficult terrain of the area, while the body was found and pulled from the canyon waters thanks to the intervention of the divers of the "RENEA" Special Unit.

Police notification

"Yesterday evening, it is suspected that the citizen PT, 54 years old, resident of the village of Pashtresh, accidentally fell into the canyon called "Shkëmbi i Vashës" in Gjinar, Elbasan, and as a result lost his life. His body was found and pulled from the waters of the canyon by the divers of the "RENEA" Special Unit. The 54-year-old had left his apartment yesterday morning. A special investigative group is working to clarify and document the circumstances of the case. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for accidental events," the announcement states.
