3 arsonists arrested in Fier and Lushnje, including the perpetrator who burned

Three people have been arrested in Fier and Lushnje on charges of setting fires.

In Fier, 68-year-old Faik Buzi was arrested, who was caught red-handed lighting a fire along the embankment of the Gjanica River. He is also suspected of having caused 3 other fires in the neighborhood where he lived. As a result of the flames spreading due to the wind, an area of land with wild vegetation was burned.

Gëzim Hysi, 61, and Novruz Deneku, 62, were arrested in Lushnje.

Gëzim Hysi is accused of starting a fire on his land in the "18 Tetori" neighborhood to burn waste. The flames spread to the former urban waste field in Lushnje, endangering several homes in that area.

Novruz Deneku also lit a fire near his home to burn garbage. The flames spread to a significant area of the village, endangering homes.

Since June, 140 arsonists have been identified and 49 have been arrested. Others are being investigated at large.

Police announcement:

Fier-Lushnjë/3 citizens identified and arrested for intentional arson.

-Fier/Caught in the act of setting fire on the embankment of the Gjanica River, a 68-year-old man with a record of arson and domestic violence is arrested.

As a result of the flames, an area of land with wild vegetation was burned.

-Lushnjë/The perpetrators of the arson attacks at the former urban waste field and in the village of Delisufaj have been arrested.

As a result of the fires, homes in these areas were endangered.

As a result of investigative and operational actions to determine the authorship of the arson cases, the Crime Investigation specialists of the Fier and Lushnje Police Stations arrested the following citizens in flagrante delicto:

-FB, 68 years old, resident of the “Bishanak” neighborhood, Fier, who was caught red-handed, lighting a fire along the embankment of the Gjanica River. He is also suspected of having caused 3 other fires in the neighborhood where he lived. As a result of the flames spreading from the wind, an area of land with wild vegetation was burned.

-GH, 61 years old, resident of Lushnja, suspected of having started a fire on his land in the "18 Tetori" neighborhood to burn waste. The flames, which have spread to the former urban waste field, have endangered homes in this area;

-ND, 62 years old, resident of the village of Delisufaj, after allegedly starting a fire near his home to burn waste. The flames spread over a considerable area of the village and endangered homes.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, for further action.

The Fier Local Police Directorate appeals to all citizens not to light fires under any circumstances, as they will face the law. The police invite citizens to report any case of this criminal activity and illegalities in general to 112, and guarantees anonymity, a quick and impartial response.
