A police officer of the Police Station No. 4 in Tirana has been suspended from duty after providing information about a police action to capture some perpetrators of the cultivation of a plot of cannabis .

The 38-year-old ED policeman with the duty of assistant community policing specialist in Police Station 4, was suspended from duty by court decision after the referral of the case by AMP .

The police officer notified one of the growers of the plot with cannabis about the action, due to his close family relationship with him.

The Police Supervision Agency (Tirana Region), after in-depth investigations carried out based on the referral of procedural materials to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance in Tirana, has issued a measure of personal security with a preventive character "Suspension of the exercise of a duty or public service ”, decided by the Court of First Instance of Tirana General Jurisdiction against the police officer ED, 38 years old, with the duty of Nd/Community Policing Specialist at Police Station No. 4 Tirana, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Abuse of duty".

The Court's decision has come after the investigative actions carried out by AMP have provided evidence and facts, which constitute reasonable suspicions that during an operation carried out by Police Station No. 4 Tirana, on 11.06.2024, for the identification and capture of the perpetrators, possessors of a parcel where narcotics were cultivated, this police officer, using the information he had due to his duty, carried out active actions to notify one of the perpetrators, with whom he had close family ties, in order to avoid criminal responsibility. Investigations continue for the complete documentation with legal evidence of the suspected activity.
