The moment of arrest

The National Police of Spain has seized a quantity of 100 kilograms of cocaine in a container coming from Ecuador.

As part of this mega-operation, the Spanish authorities have arrested 12 members of a criminal group, who had extended their activity in Europe and South America.

According to local media, it is learned that this criminal group was composed of Albanian, Colombian and Moroccan citizens.

The group had direct contacts in major cocaine-selling countries, such as Colombia and Ecuador, and with powerful investors residing in Dubai.

The operation began in early 2023, when National Police agents began investigating an international criminal organization based on the Costa del Sol and composed of citizens of Albania, Colombia, Morocco and Sweden.

Members of this group had direct contacts in the current main centers of international drug trafficking, such as in Colombia, Ecuador and Dubai.

This criminal organization was dedicated to exporting large quantities of cocaine from South America to Europe, both by air and by sea.

After several investigations, the agents managed to locate the members of the criminal network in the Costa del Sol and Madrid.

In addition, they discovered a series of meetings between them to prepare shipments of narcotic substances from South America to Spain.

On the other hand, it was found that they made trips to other countries, including Dubai, where the main investors of the criminal group were located and gave instructions to the rest of the members to carry out the illegal business.

Investigators were able to profile the criminal structure under investigation and decipher the role played by various members.

On the one hand would be the Colombian branch, in charge of taking the narcotics at source and sending the drugs to Spain both by sea in containers and by air via commercial flights.

While on the other hand there would be Moroccan citizens, responsible for logistics and infrastructure in Spain.

Among the two branches of the criminal group, the agents managed to identify a citizen of German origin, considered in Sweden one of the most important international drug traffickers.

In the midst of the investigation, he personally traveled to Colombia to negotiate the illegal shipment directly with Colombian investigators.

In late 2023, the investigation took an unexpected turn when investigators discovered that a group of Albanians had joined the organization to actively participate in the criminal business.

The person in charge of this group lived on the Costa del Sol and was in permanent contact and regularly visited his bosses, in Albania and Dubai, to receive instructions and give them news.

During the first months of 2024, the criminal organization which was under the monitoring of the authorities, began to intensify meetings to prepare a shipment of cocaine by air from Ecuador to Madrid.

The agents discovered how those responsible for the distribution of the narcotics were traveling in three vehicles to a warehouse located in an industrial area in Fuenlabrada (Madrid).

The operation was finalized with the arrest of 4 Albanian citizens who were inside the industrial warehouse. At the same time, the Albanian "capo" and his Moroccan partner, who were meeting in Marbella, were arrested.

In this first phase, agents seized 100 kilograms of high-purity cocaine inside the Fuenlabrada ship, which the criminal organization had brought into Spain in the previous days via an air container on a flight from Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The drugs were distributed in backpacks and when the agents entered, the members of the organization of Albanian origin placed the packages of cocaine in "caletas", hidden compartments in the three seized vehicles.

After this operation, eight international arrest warrants were issued in order to arrest the rest of the members of the criminal group.

On May 9, the notorious European drug trafficker who was there coordinating the operation was arrested in Colombia, as well as another representative of the Colombian network who had traveled to Madrid months earlier to oversee the operation.

The main person responsible for this organization was arrested the same day after arriving in Madrid on a flight from Colombia.
