He was bringing 21 kg of cannabis from Thailand/ Albanian: He paid me 5 thousand euros to transport it!

An Albanian man in his twenties risks 36 months in prison for trafficking 21.5 kilograms of cannabis in Belgium.

According to his lawyer, the young man had carried out the transportation due to financial difficulties.

The 25-year-old had arrived on September 30 on a flight from the Thai capital, Bangkok.

During a search of his suitcase, Belgian customs found 21.5 kilograms of cannabis, after which he was immediately deprived of his liberty.

"The gentleman immediately admitted the facts and stated that he was in financial difficulty," the prosecution said. "He was promised 5,000 euros for carrying out this transport. I request a prison sentence of 36 months."

The young man's lawyer asked for some mercy:

"He had been running an independent business in Albania for several years and had taken out a loan for this. But he was forced to close the business for a period and ended up in financial difficulties."

"For this reason, he accepted the offer. He confessed immediately and clues were found on his mobile phone that lead to the person who ordered it. We request that part of the sentence be suspended."
