A 39-year-old Albanian man wanted for attempted murder surrendered with his lawyer on Monday, Greek authorities said.
He is accused of involvement in a shooting in December 2023 outside a nightclub in the Athens neighborhood of Gazi, where a suspect opened fire on three men from Crete after an argument.
Police said the suspect and another man approached the victims in a car at around 7am on December 16 last year. After one suspect punched a member of the group, a confrontation ensued and the second suspect pulled out a gun and fired. Four shell casings were found at the scene, and the victims were taken to hospital.
Both suspects are known to authorities. The 39-year-old has a criminal history in Albania, including a prison sentence for armed robbery. The 34-year-old faces multiple charges, including human trafficking and attempted murder.
Authorities believe the 39-year-old in custody was the shooter. He faces formal charges as the investigation continues.
