Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi held a meeting today with the leaders of the State Police, at the central and local level, in response to concerns and taking strong reactive measures, highlighting 3 main issues related to the fight against economic crime, anti-cannabis measures and the smooth running of the electoral process.

Thus, the General Director of PSH has suspended, until the entry into force of the new structure of the State Police, all local leaders of Economic and Financial Crime, in the Local Police Directorates. This is due to the lack of efficiency of these structures and the failure to meet expectations, in the fight against fiscal evasion, illegalities in the economic field, or the fight against corruption.

During the meeting, Minister Çuçi gave strict orders to every local Police leader, for an uncompromising fight against the cultivation of cannabis. He confirmed the determination to support every structure in increasing preventive work and also consolidating the strike force against the cultivation of cannabis. In this aspect, the police structures will be helped by the use of high technology, as well as the images obtained from satellites in the strict monitoring of the territory. The minister said that for each parcel that will be ascertained by other agencies, there will be individual responsibility for the local leaders. Special attention should be paid to indoor inspections. 

The Minister of the Interior demanded the maximum commitment of the intelligent structures and those of the Police Order, for the smooth running of the electoral campaign and the entire electoral process of May 14, preventing and striking with the force of the law, any attempt to buy and sell votes. He has requested the crackdown on phenomena that constitute electoral crimes, as well as for the police to avoid any kind of intimidation by political subjects or persons connected to them.

The Minister emphasized that the performance evaluation for each local or central leader in the State Police is and will remain the key criterion, measuring everyone's work with the results on the ground.
