The health condition of the Archbishop of Albania, 95-year-old Anastas Janullatos, who had been hospitalized in Tirana since December 30, has shown a serious deterioration.

According to Greek media, Janullatos was urgently flown on an Air Force plane to an Athens hospital for more specialized treatment. 

It is reported that he will be transported by a team of EKAV flying medical personnel, and is expected to be admitted to the Reformation of the Evangelismos Hospital.

However, his condition is considered under control, while according to reports he has suffered a stomach hemorrhage.

It is known that the archbishop was admitted to a hospital in Albania a few days ago where it was reported that he was infected with a seasonal virus.

At the time, an announcement on the Archbishop's Facebook account stated: "The Most Blessed Archbishop of Albania, Mr. Anastasi, has been admitted to a hospital in Tirana, after contracting the seasonal flu. His health condition is stable."

We recall that in November 2020, the Archbishop of Albania was again admitted to the ICU of the "Evangelismos" hospital with coronavirus.
