The Special Court of Appeal has imposed the security measure "compulsory appearance" on the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha.
Berisha will have to appear before the judicial police twice a month. The decision was made by judge Engert Pllumbi.
It was the Special Prosecution Office that appealed the decision of the First Instance of the Special Court after it released Berisha from house arrest and did not give him any coercive measures.
The two prosecutors in the case, Arben Kraja and Enkeleda Millonai, appealed this decision, arguing that the conditions do not exist for the court to release former Prime Minister Sali Berisha from house arrest.
But the leader's lawyers declared that this complaint by SPAK was inappropriate.
Sali Berisha remained isolated in his apartment for 11 months, and gained his freedom on November 27, 2024.
