"The worst solution ever given", Gjokutaj reveals whether Berisha will
Sali Berisha in SPAK

Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, spoke to the media shortly after the Special Appeals Court imposed the security measure "compulsory appearance" on former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who will have to appear before the judicial police officer at SPAK twice a month.

Gjokutaj said that today's decision is unclear, as there was no other request from the prosecutor at the hearing other than the one for the reinstatement of the "house arrest" security measure.

"In a strange decision, the Court of Appeal on the prosecutor's appeal, based on a decision of the first instance court to revoke the security measure "house arrest" for Mr. Berisha, decided primarily to replace the measure. We are unclear about this decision, for the sole reason that the object of this trial was the request to repeal the decision of the First Instance. Meanwhile, there was no other request from the prosecutor. Not even in the courtroom, he remained under house arrest. If there was a request from the prosecutor, a legal way to replace the security measure should be found, but we were not in these conditions," said Gjokutaj.

He then accused the Special Appeal of being caught, just like the Constitutional Court, and said that the decision was the worst solution for the case in which Sali Berisha is accused.

"Yes, this court is no less caught than the Constitutional Court twice, which postpones the trial for objective reasons. The Constitutional Court, which calls the obligation to appear constitutional. You know this whole saga that has happened and today we are faced with this decision, the obligation to appear before the judicial police, and we are back to square one. The decision has not been clarified, but it is the worst solution ever given since it has not solved any problem, but has opened a new chapter that we will certainly follow ," said Gjokutaj.

Asked if Berisha will appear before the judicial police after the decision, Gjokutaj said that "we are not making predictions, the decision-making is Berisha's."
