The departure by dinghy to Italy of 11 foreign immigrants, who risked drowning near the island of Sazan, was organized by an Egyptian, also present on the boat at the time of the rescue by the Delta Forces and the Border Police.

The Blues of Vlora report that the 43-year-old from Afghanistan had organized, from Greece, the illegal entry of 10 foreigners into Albania, with the aim of subsequently transporting them to Italy.

He had taken the dinghy to Seman, Fier, at a location that had been sent to him by an Albanian, whom the police are working to identify.

 The 43-year-old from Afghanistan has been arrested, while 10 other immigrants from Haiti, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Liberia have been placed under investigation.

The Crime Investigation Specialists at the Vlora DVKM, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, after rapid and professional investigations conducted in connection with yesterday's event near the island of Sazan, arrested in flagrante delicto for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing", citizen ME, 43 years old, from Afghanistan, who was on a dinghy.

Also, 10 other citizens from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Liberia and Haiti, who were found on board the dinghy, were prosecuted for the criminal offense of "Illegal crossing of the state border".

The first investigative actions resulted in the citizen ME, in collaboration with an as yet unidentified Albanian citizen, having organized from Greece the illegal entry of these citizens into Albania, through the border with the Greek state. Then, in Seman, Fier, he had taken the dinghy made available by the Albanian citizen and was going to transport the 10 immigrants from third countries to Italy.

The investigative structures of the DVKM Vlora, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, continue intensive investigations to fully clarify the circumstances of this event, identify and capture the Albanian citizen involved, as well as other persons implicated in this attempt to smuggle immigrants from third countries to Italy.
