Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço spoke today about the latest operation by the State Police to dismantle cameras in several cities that were used by criminal groups to keep certain areas under surveillance.
Invited to ABC, he stated that the cause of the action was the explosion with explosives in the house of a former soldier in Shkodër. According to Karamuço, the action should have started at the same time throughout the territory so that other cities do not move before the police to make it possible to disable them.
"The action started after there was an explosion with explosives in the house of a former officer in Shkodër, but it was planned for the action to start on the 15th. The action should be simultaneous and not delayed throughout the territory, it is being done in a way dangerous. We have deployed uncertified police to remove the cameras. OSHE and specialized persons should go there.
The police should be appreciated, but the operation should have been secret and the cameras do not yet have an owner, it is not known where IT or the server is, we have not yet identified specific persons", he said.
Karamuço added that the moment the cameras are removed, the evidence disappears. He said that after the start of the operation, many cameras were removed or damaged.
"The fact that there is no simultaneous extension gives time to the criminal groups that have installed these cameras. The moment we remove the cameras we also disappear the evidence to know who placed them. When the operation began, many cameras were damaged and some were removed because they did not want to face it, the perpetrators risk 2 years in prison. They have been quick to cut the strings so as not to be detected.
The police should have broken into the servers. As has happened to us in other countries, the cameras were hacked which could help in catching people in crime. This is a good thing, but it doesn't get us to the people in search. Some of the cameras are set for assassinations, these are documented, they saw their movements and killed them.
We don't know the servers, one is in Germany, one in Vlora and one in Durrës. Now the police should find it difficult to catch the wanted persons, the latter will continue to see with drones as they have the opportunity to purchase them", he declared.
