About 500 thousand chickens die, bird flu "wiped out" the poultry

Outbreaks of bird flu, known as Avian Influenza disease, type H5N1, detected by the veterinary service in the Durrës District, are still active.

More specifically, it concerns two outbreaks in the poultry farms of the company "Rea's" sh.pk, as well as at the company "AIBA" owned by Armand Duka.

The Ministry of Agriculture, through a press release, announced that so far 497,986 chickens have been found dead in the poultry farms of these two companies.

Authorities say the dead chickens were disposed of through the incineration process, but without providing further details about the location.

The bird flu situation was immediately reflected in the market, as the price of eggs increased, with one egg going up to 35 lek.

The first outbreak of bird flu was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture on March 3 at Rea's farm in Rrashbull, Durrës, and on March 13, the AIBA farm owned by Xhafzotaj was also infected.

Food security on alert
Food security in our country is at an alarming point.

Although it has a duty to protect the consumer, the AKU has turned into a "taxi drivers' association" who turn a blind eye whenever they fill their "pockets" with corruption money from companies that have been caught in violation.

Not only chicken with the dangerous salmonella bacteria, but now even eggs have become a "nightmare" for citizens who are left to the "mercy of fate" as no institution functions in the interest of the consumer.

Abandoned by everyone, Albanians must now protect themselves by remaining vigilant as these infected eggs from these entities (Rea's and AIBA) may have entered the market, endangering public health. /Boldnews.al
