Several dozen Albanian railway employees have lost their jobs, including people close to retirement.
Employees of the railway maintenance sector have started the new week officially unemployed and have raised their voices about this situation, following a verbal announcement made in advance last week by the General Directorate of Albanian Railways in Durrës.
47 employees have been informed of the immediate termination of their employment, as a result of a process of job cuts. Some of them have arrived in Durrës today and express disappointment and being thrown out on the streets after a life on the railway.
They have been mainly engaged in the maintenance of the Bajza railway line, which is mainly used for the transport of gravel to Montenegro, with a frequency of 2-3 times a week.
Among those affected by this decision of HSH are also employees who are only a few months away from retirement, who have been waiting with concern and disappointment for the premature departure. According to them, the termination of employment has only affected the maintenance sector, while the technical and management staff continue to remain in their previous positions.
Employees are looking for a solution for their tomorrow.
