The mother of 14-year-old Martin Cani, Florina Cani , is demanding justice and the maximum punishment for the perpetrator of the incident. In an interview for the show "With an Open Heart", through tears, she expressed her disappointment at the lack of forgiveness from the perpetrator's family, while confessing that she has not been able to attend the court hearings due to the emotional weight of the situation.

She also confessed that when she saw the video of the moment of the event, she felt very bad and was unable to watch it to the end. 

"I have lost the meaning of life, I am used to pain. We leave the matter to justice. I want the maximum punishment for the perpetrator. If I were in the place of the perpetrator's family, as a family I would go to the other person's family, tell them that this happened, apologize, that would be it.  I did not attend the court hearing, because I cannot handle it emotionally. We did not receive an apology from the perpetrator's family. When I saw the video, I felt very bad and was unable to watch it to the end. When the wound opens again and again, it is very strong. There are some rules that must be followed," said the mother of the 14-year-old.

Martin Cani lost his life on the afternoon of November 18, 2024 after being stabbed in the stomach by his peer, Mario Përlleshaj.

The serious incident occurred after a conflict between two minors that escalated to the use of a knife.

Mario Përlleshaj is suspected of having been in the same class as the victim, at the 9-year-old 'Fan Noli' school.

The conflict between the minors reportedly started in the schoolyard, and escalated outside its premises.

The perpetrator pulled out a knife and shot 14-year-old Martin Cani. After being stabbed, Cani approached the school, walked a few meters and, after starting to lose blood, collapsed on the sidewalk in front of the school. As a result of his injuries, Cani died in hospital.

The victim's close friend, Luis Meçja, who did not attend the same school as them, was also injured in the altercation. The perpetrator himself was also injured, suffering injuries to his hand and was treated in a private hospital for several days after the serious incident.
