The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a risk assessment of Omicron's ChBB.1.5 subvariant, saying it is more contagious and spreads faster than other variants but is no more dangerous.
According to the WHO, HBV.1.5 (also known as "Kraken") has greater resistance to antibodies, but does not have mutations that cause more severe symptoms in humans than other variants and subvariants.
On the other hand, the WHO states that "together with BQ.1, HBV are the variants with the greatest resistance to antibodies to date". Therefore, he expects that "based on its genetic characteristics and initial estimates of its growth rate, BBB.1.5 is likely to cause increased cases."
WHO reports that between October 22, 2022 – January 11, 2023, cases of the variant were detected in 38 countries, most in the US (82%), Britain (6%) and Denmark (2%).
