Cars collide head-on in Laç, 25-year-old dies, two injured

A serious road accident that occurred this evening near the city of Laç has claimed the life of a 25-year-old man and left two other people injured.

According to the Kurbin Police, the accident occurred around 10:00 PM, when two vehicles collided "head-to-head" on one of the city's road axes.

"Around 10:00 PM, in the city of Laç, a vehicle driven by citizen AZ collided with a vehicle driven by citizen G. Xh," the police announced.

As a result of the violent collision, a young man, about 25 years old, died on the spot.

The victim has been identified as citizen ET, who was traveling as a passenger in the vehicle driven by citizen G. Xh.

"As a result of the accident, citizen ET, about 25 years old, who was a passenger in the vehicle of citizen G. Xh, has died," the police statement said.

Two other people were also injured in the accident, specifically the driver of the vehicle in which the victim was, as well as another passenger.

According to the police, the driver of the vehicle, citizen G. Xh., 23 years old, and the other passenger, citizen LF, 23 years old, were transported for medical assistance. Both young men were urgently taken to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, where they are receiving the necessary medical treatment and, fortunately, are out of danger to their lives.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, citizen AZ, has been escorted by the police for further procedural actions.

"Citizen AZ has been escorted to the police station for further procedural actions," the police announced.

Immediately after the incident, police and emergency services arrived at the scene of the accident, provided first aid to the injured and conducted the necessary investigative actions. The area has been temporarily blocked to facilitate the work of the investigative team and to ensure traffic safety.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact causes of the accident.

"The investigation team continues to work to determine the causes and circumstances of the accident," the announcement states.

It is suspected that factors such as speed, road conditions or a wrong maneuver may have contributed to the fatal collision, but these remain to be clarified by the investigation.
