The murder of 49-year-old Albanian Jani Aliaj inside Koridallos prison has received widespread attention from the Greek media.
The Greek newspaper " Protothema " writes that the perpetrator is a 28-year-old Greek, who with an improvised knife killed the Albanian inside the third wing of the neighboring country's largest prison.
Everything, according to the Greek newspaper, indicates that this is a contract killing, according to the investigations being carried out by the Piraeus Security Forces. The victim has a serious criminal past, as does the perpetrator.
Aliaj, 49, has committed at least two murders in Albania, for which international arrest warrants have been issued. The first occurred in his hometown of Tepelena in 2005, and the second was committed in Tirana in May 2016 when he executed Elton Çiço in the former Blloku area.
According to "Protothema" he was a member of a strong gang in southern Albania involved in drug trafficking.
The 28-year-old Greek has also committed two murders. The first was a few months ago in Agios Panteleimonas, when he cold-bloodedly shot in the head an Albanian man who had been targeted by the police for robbery and burglary.
The second happened this Monday with a knife in Korydallos prison.
"According to information, police officers dealing with the case believe that this is a death contract against the 49-year-old, which the 28-year-old carried out on the orders of another Albanian criminal, whom he hired for murder.
According to the same sources, drug trafficking in Athens is the most likely culprit. That is, who will control the squares of the capital? The victim had been released from prison a few weeks ago and had returned. Perhaps that is where the answer to the murder lies ,” writes “Protothema”.
